A one page letter was included. It mentions the next two books,
How to Shake the World --- with $100 - Roger Hertzler &
To Be Plain or Not to be Plain - John D. Martin.

The letter includes a caution, stating that all books but the Bible "are fallible, incomplete, and are an expression of the author's limited views."

I get these. Not sure why.

Here’s the letter and form that came with the latest book.

Here is the OCR transcription:

---

**July 2026**

**Dear Friends,**

Enclosed is a copy of *I Appeal to Scripture* for your edification. This is a valuable historical work on our Anabaptist ancestor Michael Sattler. Reading the writings of our forefathers, often written in light of breaking from the oppression of spiritually dead Catholicism and facing death for it, can be a compelling mirror to examine where we stand in our own life. While we may differ at times from their views, it is inspiring, insightful, and at times maybe a bit uncomfortable.

It is interesting to note the various responses from readers and each distribution brings its share of support and criticism. Perspectives seem to vary rather widely throughout the conservative Anabaptist world today, and each person holds his perspective as valid and based upon truth. People develop their set of beliefs through instruction and life experiences and herein lies one of the challenges of publishing—to inspire readers to dig deeper into the Word, walk with God, become more Christlike, and to minister to others as Jesus would.

No one person or group has the monopoly on truth and we can learn by considering each others insights. Our enemy would have us living in a state of reaction, in one extreme or the other. Either in iron-handed religious pretense or individualistic, every man for himself; either way is fine with him. Both are carnal and self-centered and neither will mature into Christlikeness. There is no substitute for the infilling, indwelling, and instructing power of the Holy Spirit in each believers life.

The next two books slated for distribution are *How to Shake the World with $100* by Roger Hertzler and *To Be or Not to Be Plain* by John D. Martin.

---

### In light of some feedback we received from *The Secret of the Strength*, we offer some clarifications on several areas that some felt could be misconstrued regarding the importance of the scriptures and church authority.

### *Inner Word and outer Word*

It should be understood that the Holy Spirit will never guide contrary to God's Word as they are one. The inner Word in our heart and the outer Word we hold in our hands will likewise never contradict outside of human error in interpretation and translation. We can be theologically correct and not Holy Spirit filled and on the other hand we can react towards dead formalism and be works-dead, charismatic, and also not Holy Spirit filled. Avoid reading more into the inner word/outer word exposition than is intended.

### *Of church authority*

It is an established Biblical principle that God has instituted church leaders to shepherd the local body of believers. Abuse of church authority in any form is never right as neither is a proud, individualistic, and rebellious spirit. If Christ is embodied in the believer, there will be Christlike brotherhood. As the body of Christ (the bride) is not to be exalted above Christ (the bridegroom), likewise the individual that is guided by the indwelling Christ must not exalt himself above his brethren. As someone said: Be careful how you treat the church, it is the apple of God's eye.

### *A caution for all books*

Except for the Bible, all books are fallible, incomplete, and are an expression of the writer's limited views. It should be noted both writers and readers tend to be biased because of their particular teaching exposures and personal life experiences. Because of this, it is possible to misconstrue the message and take it out of context in a manner not intended, to fit our own agenda and favored beliefs. Please avoid doing so and always be mindful of the nature of Jesus Christ and live in full obedience to His Word.

Interesting. I have not noticed any paperwork included with the books I’ve received. No letter, nothing. Perhaps it was included and I’ve repeated accidentally tossed the additional papers.

The letter Mike scanned & posted is the same as the one I very briefly summarized above. As I recall, there has always been a sort of news letter included, but I might be confusing this ministry with another, one that is a bit on the side of 'Amish-bashing' (former Amish writing their stories).

I like to see an author's 'credentials' in the back of a book, so I attempted to find information on the guy who wrote the Sattler book. About all I could find is a couple of videos of him preaching, and that he is affiliated with the 'Pilgrim Mennonites'.

There is a great deal of information out there about Andrew Ste. Marie, but it turns out most of it is not easily accessible with a Google search. At this point, he is a well-known author in Anabaptist circles; I would go so far as to say he is one of the most significant ones right now.

It's always interesting to me where plain Anabaptists are willing to invest their donations. Printing and mailing books is quite expensive. If they are only sending them to a certain list of plain Anabaptists, obviously that is a limited mailing list, but it still costs real money. They must have some really dedicated donors to be able to do this on a continuous basis as well as plan more mailings to come.

Thanks for y'all's information. I checked back in with my relatives, one couldn't recall and the other did not receive a letter.

I'm still baffled by how this mailing list was created. I suppose some things may never be understood.
