1. A man not overcome by jealousy (Mt 1:19).
2. A man not overcome by lust (Mt 1:25).
3. A man not overcome by laziness (Mt 1:24).
4. A man not overcome by idle talk (Mt 1:20).
5. A man not overcome by anger (Mt 2:22).
6. A man not overcome by ambition (Mt 13:55).
7. A man not overcome by greed (Lk 2:7).
A man full of virtue, not dominated by vainglory, envy, anger, sloth, avarice, gluttony, and lust (the seven deadly vices), was the earthly father to whom the heavenly Father entrusted the care of His only Son.
In the same way, all fathers who take the glorious name of Christian should aspire to be like Saint Joseph, a righteous man: men distinguished by their self-control.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Tim 1:7)
