Anabaptist Identity Conference 2026

Post by cmbl »

Scheduled for the end of this month in Millersburg, OH.

Apparently AIC now has a website: https://anabaptistidentityconference.com/

I note that the mission statement in this year's flyer mentions both Anabaptist and Pietist groups.

AIC would be far more appealing if they would consistently draw from a broader group of speakers than their limited cadre. I know and honestly appreciate several of those men as individuals, but it really does turn into an echo chamber / back-patting pep rally at times...

Is that verbiage to make explicit that those from the Schwarzenau Brethren (German Baptists, Dunkards, ect.) are welcome to the conference, and it's not just a "Mennonite Conference"?

The Bible is very easy to understand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to understand it because we know very well that the minute we understand we are obliged to act accordingly.

Yes, it does make that clear. Also, I think it indicates a rehabilitation of the term "Pietism" in Anabaptist Identity Conference circles. A few years ago, Donny Brechbill of the Old Order River Brethren spoke on "The Quest for Piety and Obedience" - the history of the River Brethren. He was somewhat apologetic about the fact that the OORB are a blend of Anabaptism and Pietism - not that he was apologizing for the fact itself, but that some of the people at the conference seemed to have a prejudice against so-called "Pietism."
