Looking for good internet filter
Looking for good internet filter
I want to limit what I use the internet for like the beachy/new order amish and some mennonites do/use. I don't know how to set one up but I am sure there is some kind of guidelines or apps or app settings specialized for these kinds of communities to use to take some of the mental work off of banning every single website individually. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge or ideas that would help me out?

I use this organization and the service is decent. It has grown quickly in popularity among plain Anabaptists. The best setup is an phone you purchase directly from them that comes with the filter settings pre-installed. Otherwise, you have to either send your phone to them for configuration, or for an iPhone they can do it remotely over the phone if you can connect it to a Mac computer using Apple Configurator. For iPhones, they use Apple's enterprise phone management system. The filtering is done on their servers.
The only thing I don't like about them is the cost of technical support. If you have trouble with something related to their filtering, such as an app not working correctly, you pay the $80/hour or whatever the current rate is, with a minimum charge of 15 minutes, for them to fix it. You pay per device, so if you use it on multiple devices and phones it can get a little expensive for a family.

If you buy their iPhone, I guess you can still use it with your Verizon account?mike wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 7:47 pmhttps://erp.compassfoundation.io/Divos25 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 7:27 pm I want to limit what I use the internet for like the beachy/new order amish and some mennonites do/use. Yes, their setup doesn't affect your cell carrier.R7ehr wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 8:27 pmIf you buy their iPhone, I guess you can still use it with your Verizon account?mike wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 7:47 pmhttps://erp.compassfoundation.io/Divos25 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 7:27 pm I want to limit what I use the internet for like the beachy/new order amish and some mennonites do/use. Although the “support group “ is conference only as far as I know, the rest of this is helpful.

I have been told that Compass Foundation uses E My People services, as a third party approach. (I heard this from Compass Foundation users, some very conservative 'Old' Beachy-Amish Mennonite type of congregations in KY. I think that some of these congregations do not have BAM in their heritage, but in respect to conduct and dress, they are much like the BAM were 40 or so years back.)

From what I understand, they both use the same core system. Compass has much better user support and cost more.Neto wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 7:39 am I have been told that Compass Foundation uses E My People services, as a third party approach.
