I and a friend use Google Voice for VOIP phone calls and some OBI modems are no longer supported.
What VOIP service do you recommend and what is the cost?

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.

Re: VOIP Service
My son-in-law set it up for me when I had to get a new cellular telephone so I don't know the ins and outs of it, but I have 2 numbers on that telephone. One is a personal number, and the other is my old cellular number, which I now use only for business. It is through Google Voice, but I'm not sure it would be considered VOIP, although that would be my understanding. (Or is you wanting to make telephone call directly on a computer or laptop?)
There is no additional cost in this arrangement, except that it uses internet connection data, which in my case is unlimited, and I also don't use it much for anything else. (My cellular service is through Red Pocket, with unlimited text, talk, and data. It is an annual subscription, and it comes out to a bit more than $20.00/mo. Last renewal was 04-10-2024, $242.50.)

Re: VOIP Service
If he can bear to use a cell phone for VOIP, I recommend US Mobile - $8/mo ($96/yr). You can put the SIM chip in any phone including those "black boxes" you can plug a regular phone into.
I'm using US Mobile and am extremely happy with it
