I've been using a Nokia smartphone for the past 5 years. My original started having problems and I went eBay and found the same model (long discontinued) for $40. Switched out the SIM card and I was good to go.
I should mention we haven't had a landline for almost 10 years. All our phones are prepaid from AT&T.
o.yes. good reminder. there’s a thread here on Nokia, i’ll try to find it.

good question. hmm.
this reminds me. a couple of years ago, this very phone started malfunctioning. i don’t recall details. we were convinced i needed a new phone. as a last-ditch effort, i called tech support. she advised
shutting down+restarting! lol. so basic. why didn’t we think of that?!
it worked. problem-free until now.
i repeated this time. no improvement.
battery? hmm. hmm.
well. the actual phone functions seem perky-enough in general, it takes a charge, etc.
the “extras” are failing. like, i can no longer take a picture or send or receive a picture. true for a couple of years. i can live without it.
the latest fail is: no more speakerphone. i miss this. i use it frequently.
would these be signs of weakening battery? maybe. i’ll have to learn.

Probably my biggest decision in this will be whether to continue a Verizon Family Plan that my family has enjoyed for .. 10-20 years? .. i started it when i was still working, family in high school and college. as our lives have changed, the plan has changed with us. this includes a family death (we kept his number) then a marriage, we added a number; we’ve added 3-4 numbers over time!
i began as the main plan owner, my daughter took that over, i think when she/they went off to smartphones .. i’m now just a modest user. she does the math regarding how much each of us pays. i have my doubts about her math ..
but, family, you know ..
i might be able to find something that would suit me better, without hurting their rates.
i’m not sure.
i feel it’s time to figure this out. even if i can keep the status quo.
if it suddenly fails, i won’t have to start from scratch learning about options.
because of my (relatively) remote living situation, a dependable phone is necessary.
if it would fail in winter, i could be days without. a problem on the road would not be good.
i appreciate the help.
