This aligns with the Nikki Haley message above, posted Jan 26 2024. Thank you.

i received another, more intensely-worded USPS message this morning. Country Code: Philippines
i blocked, “reported as spam” and deleted.

If it appears again, i’ll try replying STOP

i would have hesitated, fearing it would equate to a response. :?:

“It’s to warm the number.

You cannot send bulk texts containing a URL until your number has earned credibility with phone carriers.

To earn credibility, it needs to have replies from other numbers. So the message they send is always something that tries to elicit a response from you.

Once response rate is high and the phone number is warmed, they send tens of thousands of spam links to people.”

Best way to fight back? Replying STOP in all caps will immediately flag the number.
Best response is to not respond at all. But simply block the number in your contacts and report it as spam.

Responding back with STOP simply tells the sender that your number is real and that there is a human at the other end.

Carriers intercept “STOP” and do not interpret it as a “real” conversation

Some legitimate companies ask you to reply STOP to opt out of further messages. I wouldn't want to flag them as spam, because they aren't, it's simply unsubscribing.
