Re: Elmendorf
the amusing thing to me is when I was reaching out to the closer Hutterites to myself, they actually told me I couldn't join, in fact they would not permit anyone to join them but I should look into the Elmendorf community and gave me phone numbers to call them. I lost the number though... Does anyo...

Re: Non-resistance
We listened to an amazing sermon on Sunday. The distinction was made between the peacemaker and the peacelover. The peacemaker doesn't shy away from his own pain and suffering for the good of others while the peacelover avoids it. It is noble to be known as the quiet in the land but it is an end in...

Re: Supporting the Opposition
I think we are called to stand with the broken hearted. To comfort those who grieve. To have compassion on those in opposition. I agree with the last two parts, and maybe I over think things but when I hear "stand with" that would mean agree and do what they do. For example, if I stand wi...

Non-resistance
I've been thinking about Non-resistance since another thread loosely pertaining to it. I'd like to hear rational for the choices ya'll select without debate preferably. Explanation of some of the items in the poll: 1-A-0 classification is service in the military as medical or numerous other position...

Re: Head Covering
My wife tends to wear hers 17/7 but there are times that she isn't covered at home. She's using a veil like this one https://www.scrollpublishing.com/store/media/Head-covering-web.jpg only black, often when we go to church, otherwise she uses something very plain that I would describe as a black tub...

I sort of tried the singing last night, I think my newborn just found my singing to be worthy of my skills. She stopped for a moment and went back to screaming

Re: Time Wasting?
We hunt and fish but only if we'll eat it. Hobbies can be useful for building skills. Board games can be educational. Haven't seen any purpose in pc/video gaming as far as skills development. Well... if you want to be a drone pilot and kill people... Actually its been studied, surgeons using...

Time Wasting?
As Christians, is there ever an acceptable time to waste?
examples, sport hunting, pc/console gaming, board games, naps, vacations, hobbies? The list could go on, but this is sufficient to present my question.

Re: Using Scripture's terms and phrases
When we first started going to Mennonite churches we assumed that pacifist was the right word so we continually said “We are pacifists now!” Only to be rebuked and told that we were non-resistors and that pacifist was very political. I understand the difference now but most people are very ignorant ...
