Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage
Matthew 5:32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. So according to your view, the last clause applies to the first clause, the second clause, or the third cla...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage
I really don't see the Bible every talking about a state where someone is legitimately divorced, but may not legitimately marry. So you think these two situations refer to an illegitimate divorce? Luke 16:18 “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a ...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage
So, should I reconcile with my ex wife or not? According to the Followers of the Way, doing so will consign both of us to hell. According to Beachy or Midwest, we should reconcile. Maybe half the Beachy's. The other half take a similar position as Eastern or Pilgrim. In actuality, I don't know of a...

Re: A Mennonite view of divorce and remarriage
Here are some additional thoughts from another Mennonite that I think are valuable to this discussion... Early Christian Understandings of Scripture on Divorce A Simple Approach If you want to know what the early Christians believed on nearly any subject, you can simply look at all the New Testament...

Re: Who "owns" the Conservative Anabaptists?
I see intermediate conservative mennonites somewhat freely interact and connect with charity people, german baptists, followers of the way, ultra conservative mennonites, moderate conservative mennonites. Depending on the person not all intermediates will interact with all these groups, but I do. I...

Re: Relating to Christmas
I chose 3. However in the CA world that I am a part of, we don't send cards but rather a "Christmas Letter" with a photo of our family that gives our friends a window into our lives over the past year. Our family does this every two years often a few weeks before Christmas. I don't have a ...

Re: The Pilgrim Church (aka: Kingdom Christians) Long List
I think Menno Simons and Michael Sattler were more correct about divorce, for instance, Does anyone know where I can get an electronic copy of this writing without gettting it from MQR? Gameo and others say that "Concerning Divorce" is from the Swiss Brethren, presumably written by Sattler.
