Re: What the Mennonites got right
This leaves those of us who aren't Swiss-German out in the cold. I can't make myself become Swiss-German. And having a Swiss-German work ethic seems very far afield from anything having to do with the kingdom of heaven.

Re: How do you plant seeds?
My experience with passing out tracts is that it is not particularly effective.

Re: How do you plant seeds?
My successful seed planting has been mostly by example, with a little bit of discussion and talking when someone wanted to talk to me about spritual things and considered me credible to talk to. But that credibility only came from them seeing my example and my life in various ways. My not-so-success...

Re: Church Planting By Relocating Families
Good grief, do people really do this? Yes. All the time in recent Anabaptist history. Even today, if about half the congregation decides to leave, and they feel like they best represent what the church stood for or should be standing for, they will think they should have the school or the church pr...

Re: "gay Christian"
Well, Szdfan made it sound like pretty well every congregation has LGBTQ people attending. I was wondering if its really that common, and how often it actually shows up. I know that it has at times, but I'm still thinking that it isn't as common as he made it sound. But maybe I've just got my head ...

Re: "gay Christian"
I have been uneasy with this terminology from the beginning, and it isn't getting any better, so I'm ready to back off. I just thought that using the terminology that the persons involved are most familiar/comfortable with would help in communicating two things: compassion, and secondly, a recognit...

Re: "gay Christian"
Here is my concern: pretending that LGBTQ people don't exist in the church ignores and makes invisible what the people in our pews are actually experiencing in their lives. There are gays and lesbians in our churches regardless of whether the church acknowledges them. This makes me curious. How man...

Re: What the Mennonites got right
Stay at home mothers. I'm sitting in the dentist waiting room receiving compliments on the behavior of my 4 kids. I think having a stay at home mother is a huge reason for their decent behavior. Or we got right making sure no single mothers ever try to convert / join our churches. We have a single ...

Re: Bible Memorization (Children)
if only we could truly grasp what it was like, how folks remembered and shared, before the printing press! we can learn about how early followers, possibly before being labeled "Christians," drew and painted on cave walls, to share the Word, most being illiterate for a long time after Jes...

Re: Bible Memorization (Children)
What is your exegesis to connect "thy word have I hid in mine heart" to mean modern day memorization specifically? What do you mean be modern day memorization? I'm honestly curious. Would you say that memorization is done differently nowadays compared with a century ago? Modern-day memori...
