Re: Filtering
Every single group I’ve seen follows a general pattern on one stage moving on to the next. No internet #internet is Babylon# Library internet with a brother observing #making it hard to use is good# Heavily filtered school internet for adult members. #having to leave the house to use it is good Whi...

Anabaptists in the South American country of Bolivia
I have read that “2% of all newborns in Bolivia in 2024 were born to German Mennonites, up from 0.2% in 1980. German Mennonites have a Total Fertility Rate of 7 kids per woman, while for Bolivia as a whole it is 1.7 kids per woman.”. That would make Bolivia have a higher percentage of German speakin...

Re: What interpretations would lead to someone receiving "the ban" or excommunication from your church?
I was reading a study titled "Old German Baptist Brethren: Plain but Different" It's an interesting read. They mention that one noticable difference between the OGBB and other plain groups is a thing called "Orthopraxis" 3. Orthopraxis: An Emphasis on Conformity to Specific Pract...

Re: What interpretations would lead to someone receiving "the ban" or excommunication from your church?
I do think that it would not hurt for OP to contact some of the communities that he’s interested in. They are not going to shun somebody that is not already a part of the church, and you can get to know the people for a while before ever becoming a member. Perhaps your view might change, and I don’...

Re: What interpretations would lead to someone receiving "the ban" or excommunication from your church?
That is an exceedingly stretched explanation. Most of us go with the obvious, plain reading of scripture. Have you made contact with or visited Christadelphians? I believe they hold to these views. I tend to disagree with them, though. I think that for people that were non-christian and then start ...

Re: What interpretations would lead to someone receiving "the ban" or excommunication from your church?
Does belief that he is the "lord and savior of humanity, sent by God to save us, the promised messiah and son of God" not already elevate him far far above a "mere man"? In the scripture Jesus seems to have accepted the faith of those who stated things like this: I would point o...

That's interesting, do you know which area/state in the Midwest the horse and buggy one is located?Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2026 10:08 pm The Old Order River Brethren are, for the most part, NOT horse and buggy, except for a group in the Midwest. They are very seeker-friendly.

Re: Comparison of horse and buggy Anabaptists that are accepting of seekers
Another group to consider are the Old Brethren German Baptists from Camden, Indiana and Trenton, MO. They are the most conservative German Baptist group in existence. No tractors, no electricity, and no phones. They are of course English speaking. What is this groups view towards seekers? Are they ...

I don’t think the dietary stuff would be as big of a deal, although I would think that a lot would depend on whether they feel like you’re pressuring it on the rest of the group as far as the kosher sabbatarianism ect. Especially if you had that sort of background, I hope they would practice Romans...
