Re: Do Reformed Anabaptists exist?

Well, we used to be justified by engaging in animal sacrifices.
Friend, Hebrews 10:4 paints a very different picture here.
Now we are justified a different way.
And here..
I am comfortable with God doing whatever he wants and trusting that he is good.
But on this we are agreed. :hi5

Re: OT Nephilim and the ‘sons of God’

What confession do you affirm in order to be able to maintain having an active account on PuritanBoard? I’m not there any more, friend, but I would substantially affirm the LBCF1689. Okay. It may be helpful to know that such confessions are in fundamental conflict with Anabaptism as a whole. The 16...

Re: Do Reformed Anabaptists exist?

It’s not insulting in the slightest, friend. I wouldn’t want you to pray about being more reformed, but rather to pray about what God says in His Word concerning Himself and Creation. Nothing more, nothing less. I simply affirm what my church teaches when it comes to doctrine and do not try to cons...

Re: Do Reformed Anabaptists exist?

I guess spend some time praying and thinking about the case with Peter. You may find it helpful. Peter couldn’t’ve been free to make a choice that would’ve rendered our Lord a false prophet. I hope this doesn't come across as insulting, but I have no plans to spend time praying and thinking about h...

Re: OT Nephilim and the ‘sons of God’

Also keep in mind we Christians have been at our worst when clarifying things left unclear in the scripture. This is a real irony for me. As Mennonites, we emphasize the need to obey what is clear in Scripture, as seen in what Jesus did and said. Living it out today as the Kingdom of God. But on Me...

Re: Do Reformed Anabaptists exist?

I believe in substitutionary atonement as it is presented in the scripture, as one illustration among others also found there. I'm more reluctant with the penal part of PSA since it seems clear that God is gracious and can forgive sin. Then why did He die? Or stipulate that without the shedding of ...

Re: Do Reformed Anabaptists exist?

I suppose He didn’t have to, but ultimately chose to, as evidenced by Him choosing which universe to actualize. This would be the same difficulty I have with the notion of libertarian free will, defined as the ability to make free choices without coercion of any kind, and to make choices contrary t...

Re: Do Reformed Anabaptists exist?

I’ll be honest, I can’t imagine how the gospel works apart from PSA. Christ Jesus took the wrath of God that I deserved upon Himself on the Cross, and I’m forever grateful. This would be another very large gap between Anabaptism and Reformed thinking. Penal substitutionary atonement, as taught in t...
