Re: Questions about Mennonite denominations
The chiliasts in the early church, such as Hippolytus linked here, tended to link the final seven years - or at least the last half, 3 1/2 years - with the Antichrist of the end times. Hippolytus doesn't say anything about a peace deal as far as I can tell, but the entire seventieth week is placed ...

Re: What are your views on health insurance?
Most conservative Anabaptists don't use Medicaid or state aid at all. I am in one of the very few conferences that does do so. For those that do not use medicaid, what do they do if they have a large family? Do they buy health insurance on the open market or just hope nobody in the family has to go...

Re: Questions about Mennonite denominations
Regarding the present reality of the Kingdom of God, my understanding is that any view of eschatology that is more 'realized' than classic dispensationalism includes a present Kingdom of God in some sense. Such views would include historic premillenialism, progressive dispensationalism, and the mod...

What are your views on health insurance?
As we all know health insurance has become super expensive in the last few years, especially for those raising a large family. I would like to hear your opinions on health insurance. Do you purchase it? What is your church's policy on it? I have heard some people don't buy it and others make special...

Re: Israel in Promises and Prophecy and Fulfillment
So, some people think the promises to Abraham are fulfilled in Jesus and the Church. The thing that really helped me understand this is when someone pointed out to me that in the Psalms, it says "The meek will inherit the land". But Jesus changes this to "the meek will inherit the ea...

Re: Israel in Promises and Prophecy and Fulfillment
Isn't that more of a dispensationalist thing? Im not sure. From what I understand, in premillenialism there is a sense that the 2 witnesses go to Jerusalem and preach, and there is a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem that the antichrist sits in. I don't know anyone who is non-dispensational premillenial ...

Re: Israel in Promises and Prophecy and Fulfillment
One thing that I read recently which was interesting is that Pentecost when the Spirit came into the people is when the presence of God came into the temple of the church, similar to in the Old Testament when the presence of God filled the temple. Now, the believing Christians that make up the Churc...

Re: Israel in Promises and Prophecy and Fulfillment
Not all premillennials hold to Christian Zionism or dispensationalism. Some do. That's true. What I have seen though is that many premillenials say that the temple in Jerusalem needs to be rebuilt so the antichrist can sit in it per Thessalonians. So that is still something that pertains to the nat...

Re: Israel in Promises and Prophecy and Fulfillment
Seems like the amillenial people say that the "Covenant Community" throughout the ages is Israel. Today, the covenant community is the Church incorporating both Jews and Gentiles together into the New Covenant. The premillenials say that the modern nation of Israel is Israel in Bible proph...

Re: Questions about Mennonite denominations
Hi barkhausen102, I have confidence God will direct you, he truly is the good shepherd who knows how to guide his sheep. I have some advice that I would give to nearly everyone joining most churches, join to be formed by the church not the other way round. A pick and choose consumer approach is not...
