Re: Any Good Writings to Recommend?

second the Dean Taylor book. Most books by David Burcot are pretty decent to read as well. http://www.watchmangospelsigns.com/resources.php lots of good things to read there too I'm a navy vet who filled out his CO papers while inactive reserve. I don't mind answering any questions you might have, m...

Re: "Blessed is he whose quiver is full"

To clarify... my keyboard isn't sticky, but I was eating oatmeal and honey :P I've always considered this to be more of a question of birth control. Is there a legitimate form of birth control Christians can use? In my mind anything that causes the death of a fertilized egg is wrong. I know some wou...

Re: "Blessed is he whose quiver is full"

Josh wrote:It would seem to make as much sense to give teachings that Christians should eat a lot of honey "for it is good" as to use Proverbs as a doctrinal basis for having as many children as possible.
I'm sitting here eating honey right now. I'm in favor of this.

(Oo.... my keyboard is sticky)

Re: Observing the Sabbath

I agree with RZehr,

I've stood that Justin Martyr really phrased it well when he told the Jew "you think your holy for ceasing from sin for one day, we take every day as a perpetual sabbath" (might be slightly misquoted)

Re: Did Apostle Paul know Christ?

if we doubt the reliability of Acts... that would call some serious questions in about us poor gentiles. As a side note about Paul... Peter seems to indicate the reliability of Paul but the difficulty for understanding him. Also for some who might support James and not Paul, was it not men from Jame...

Re: Tucking in shirts

Personally I believe its more modest to not tuck it in, but I'm very open to change given that we all must submit in some fashion on many things. I know of a group that formed from the net and ended up on the west coast doing communal living, they as a practice wore tunics for modesty sake. The clas...

Re: Standards vs Reality

hair is something I'm particularly interested in... in other words the length. One thing I've found is that the covenant may say uncut hair but in practice some members do cut their hair and its more a length issue then it being uncut. That being said, if you ask why it isn't struck from the book th...

Re: Creation & the "Big Bang"

fascinating. They don't really explain that much in the article though... How did the matter form into objects if there wasn't a rapid expansion of particles? How does that explain the universe in motion? A math theory that is pretty cool but doesn't explain how its applied... unless you read super ...

Re: What is Worldliness ?

Worldliness in my mind is setting one's mind on things that do not glorify God or edify others. This extends to what one wears, watches and does. Why do I wear what I wear? why do I eat what I eat? why do I watch what I watch? Can you give me something that Hollywood has made that is completely rede...

Re: The Thief on the Cross

I think there is grounds for believing in paradise being a separate place. That being said, I don't know if it still is used or if Jesus's death and resurrection did away with the in between place, if there was one. I personally would be quite comfortable saying that all in paradise would go on to h...
