Re: Help Wanted?!

Many times a manager doesn't realize what an employee does until they're not there to do it anymore. Not to brag but that is what happened when I left the warehouse: three people now share my old responsibilities. Not fulltime, mind you, but still.

Re: Help Wanted?!

I don't know if there is a shortage or not, but we put out a help wanted post on Facebook the other day and we got an extraordinary number of good applications. Typically when we advertise, as opposed to hiring walk-ins or word-of-mouth, we get a large number of low quality applications. I don't kn...

Help Wanted?!

I'm still seeing a lot of job openings. Does not appear that things slowed down since the pandemic. Warehouse entry level jobs are everywhere. Driving/delivery jobs are still abundant. I am of the persuasion that if there is a worker shortage, there are two options for an employer: pay more or lower...

Has the love and/or affection towards your spouse changed?

We will be married 29 years this July. 14 children (set of twins in there!), two grandchildren. We've been through our battles over the years. It is safe to say my affection for my wife has changed. We are far from newlyweds. The "spark" is still there but I suppose it has matured. What sa...

2026 Reverse?! 2021 OP: Have been waxing philosophical as of late.... 8-) What if life had a pause button? A rewind/reverse or "do over" button? Or fast forward? Would you use it? If Friday is dragging out too long, fast forward to the weekend? Use reverse to "do over" a b...

Re: What do you do with WWII era medals, flags, etc.?

My father had a pistol left over from his military service days. I don't know if it was from his WW2 or Korean War enlistment. When my parents died, and we were sorting out their belongings, my brother and I agreed to have his pistol destroyed; otherwise, it might be used to hurt someone someday. I...

Re: Dealing with Infractions - Lancaster Conference

I was in attendance at two Mennonite confessions in my day: one at a Hope congregation and another at KMF church. Both were on communion days. I witnessed one in the Dunkard Brethren church and that was at our spring council meeting (which is more a business meeting than anything). Never really knew...

Re: Ragpicker update…

You're still in good company around these parts,

I've since become a licensed steering wheel holder and have done time in Appalachia and have seen signs referring to the Ozarks. Nice country. But keep it down there.

Re: Wholesalers - damaged cans?

From what I read a few of you might be in wholesale foods distribution. I got a question for you. Are you seeing a lot more canned goods coming through lately that are badly damaged? I went to Walmart to buy some canned dog food last week and almost every single can on the shelf was bent up and one...

Re: Farewell Chuck Norris

I had a Chuck Norris poster on my bedroom wall when I was a boy. Go ahead, criticize me. He was a good God-fearing man. Not something that is seen in his industry.
