Re: Crisis of Authority

What establishes authority and how does one get it? Perhaps the authority to be desired isn't positional, political, or even ecclesiological. Perhaps it is like Jesus' was. An authority not like the scribes (that is those with positional, political and ecclesiological authority). Instead his author...

Re: US Attacks Iran 2026

Allies, for starters. How many of the US’s traditional allies that helped the US during its post-9/11 “War on Terror” are helping Trump now with Iran? Keep in mind that these are the countries who for years let the US essentially fund their own defense, in the form of financing NATO, while not meet...

Re: US Attacks Iran 2026

As you know, I don’t support the war in the first place. But putting that aside, if the US is going to do this, do it with a coherent, consistent strategy with clear signaling. If this is about negotiating a deal, then say that and pursue it coherently. If it’s about pressuring Iran into capitulati...

Re: US Attacks Iran 2026

Another thing we don't know is the full geo-political picture that moved the US to intervene in places like Venezuela and Iran, countries one could argue were not an immediate threat. There are those who say the war in Iran has more to do with challenging China in some way for instance. It’s unfortu...

Re: Attitude towards apostasy

What is your attitude towards someone who apostasies from your church? Betrayal? Sadness? Happy? Specifically an apostate who was born and raised in the setting. Im curious to know If by apostasy, you mean someone who totally rejects the Christian faith, it would definitely be an attitude of extrem...

Crisis of Authority

A friend recently said that he thinks there has been a collapse of respect of authority. The context was the authority of the church, the Mennonite church in particular. I have been rolling around some questions. Has there been a collapse of respect for authority in the Mennonite church? The church ...

Re: US Attacks Iran 2026

Is this what winning a war looks like? Are you upset about the U.S. government extending a ceasefire? Do you want to see a resumption of hostilities, or something? What exactly do you want? I want a President who can pursue a consistent and coherent strategy. I’m fine with extending the ceasefire, ...

Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is barely communicating. The IRGC generals and Iran's civilian negotiators are openly at odds over strategy.
