Re: The Young Catholic Women Bringing Back Veils
I’m fascinated by how the topic of Catholic veils is morphed into leadership comments. I'm fascinated by how some Anabaptists to be so concerned about the goings and comings in the Catholic world.  Well there are Baptists who and Catholics who seem concerned about the goings an...

Re: Anabaptists and lawsuits?
I was at a coffee shop this morning, and a local stranger (to me) started visiting. Eventually the topic turned to Trump and lawsuits. This man asked of confirmation that his understanding was that Mennonites don’t sue when we are taken advantage off. I confirmed that, but I asked him not to let tha...

Re: Anabaptists and lawsuits?
When we say some will use the court, some won’t, this is not to say that any given Mennonite may or may not, or that it is left up to the individual. There are church groups who will excommunicate members for suing someone, no matter what the issue is.

Re: The Young Catholic Women Bringing Back Veils
If you find my views of Francis disrespectful, I have successfully used language to communicate. I was neither vulgar nor inaccurate in expressing a view. You are entitled to decide how blindly loyal to your church leaders you should be. I will choose for myself. The Pope is infallible in matters o...

Re: Foul or offensive language?
To be fair, a buttload is an actual unit of measurement.
A person with me last week saw something remarkable, and exclaimed “My Lord!”. I challenged him on that because I knew him well and he shouldn’t say that. Generally I would ignore swearing.

Re: The Young Catholic Women Bringing Back Veils
Leo simply is not the mean little fanatic that Francis was. I find this personal language fascinatingly disrespectful to see used by a religious Catholic, to describe his spiritual leader, the successor of Peter, the Vicar of Christ himself, who can speak infallibly on matters. We don’t hold our ow...

Re: Arminianism and Anabaptism?
Look at anabaptist circles. Founded by a group who took it upon themselves to self baptize and picked their own ministry “out of the blue”. Yet I know many who frown when new “oh, they are more liberal” groups do EXACTLY what Anabaptism’s founders do. Weren't these forementioned founders, Catholic?

Bribes, Blackmail, Ransoms, and Fees Under Duress — When (If Ever) Are They Justified?
How should Christians respond when faced with demands for bribes, blackmail, ransoms, or coerced fees—especially when lives, livelihoods, or freedom are at stake? Is there a moral difference between paying a ransom to free a kidnapped person and giving a bribe to speed up a process in a corrupt syst...
