Re: Christian Pacifism
I came to an understanding of nonviolence in the Christian walk through reading the Bible. It was hard to come then to a conviction on it. I had a lot of false teaching to overcome. Leo Tolstoy's book "The Kingdom of God is Within You" was the thing that really spurred me to take the teach...

Re: Icons versus religious art
When I travel, I sometimes enjoy going into old churches and taking in the architecture, art, and general calm ambience inside. They often have illustrations of biblical scenes in the stained glass architecture, which I like to inspect and figure out what they are depicting. My understanding is tho...

Re: 7th Day Adventists?
I am puzzled why we would care about whether or not 7th Day Adventists subscribe to what the Catholics claim are the right doctrines about trinitarianism or christology. Asserting that Jesus is not actually God is opening up a whole can of worms that inevitably brings you WAY outside orthodoxy, as ...

Re: 7th Day Adventists?
Well both & others are considered heretical (commonly known). To believe 7th Day is not heretical, you’d have to except the (false) prophetess so then we should all be 7th Day. Both cannot be right. I found this at the bottom of JohnL's link. It might be "commonly known" as you sa, bu...

Re: 7th Day Adventists?
I did a little digging just now and found out that there’s 10 Adventist churches and the 7th Day Adventists is one of them. They also said the JWs are also under that roof too. I’ll let y’all read more about what I found here because my wife is ringing that supper bell. https://atoday.org/adventist...

Re: 7th Day Adventists?
What are y’all’s thoughts about them? I’m not going to say any more than that other than I could never be any kind of vegetarian. I’m a meat guy. I see them as potentially one of the groups of Christians that are more "earnest" than mainline/evangelical Christians. A bit like Conservative...

Re: The emerging "Delano" Anabaptist movement
I ask because the following criteria is either very helpful or extremely hypocritical depending on what "seeker" refers to in the quoted context, referring to high-proportion members and inclusion in leadership. Explain? If seeker means, for example, someone from a different Christian set...

Re: The emerging "Delano" Anabaptist movement
- Higher proportion of seekers (as high as ⅓ in some places), including in senior leadership such as ordained bishops. Question: Does "seeker" in this sentence refer to nonbelievers or newly converted Christians? I ask because the following criteria is either very helpful or extremely hyp...

Re: Young Women Euthanized for Trauma
I agree that this is perverse and immoral. But I doubt the State has the ability to heal them. Knowing that, they give up. Maybe this is an area ripe unto harvest as Jesus said. Maybe this church should be moving into these spaces with confidence that healing is possible with the power of God. Mayb...
