Re: GPT and LLMs: Good? Bad? Both?

One problem I can see is that AI generated text is insanely BORING. The best way to get me to ignore a web page or forum post or anything else is to let it be obviously AI generated. I'm not saying it has no useful purpose. But it sure doesn't take the place of a human writer. Internet searches on ...

Re: Carbon Removal

In their defense, I have wondered why people are going through all the trouble to invent carbon capture machines when plants already exist. If carbon capture were actually serious, all you need to do is build a giant permanent lumber yard. Ok, fine, you can get plants that grow (I mean capture carbo...

Re: Carbon Removal

Did nobody step back and think about the fact that this is like burying plastic or fiberglass? Very curious what they’re sealing them with that is both impermeable to carbon dioxide and also does not decompose itself. Hmm… I do wonder what this “special barrier” might be? Folks, they’re shrink-wrap...

15 signs? Seems like this is the Assistance Office’s problem. You can’t completely blame people for doing what seems like the most obvious thing to do and it’s up to the Assistance Office to communicate with their customers. The Assistance Office should either offer to pay for a prominent sign at th...

Re: Your last interaction with law enforcement?

I got pulled over by the cops for speeding on my way to church on Sunday. Oddly enough, in Ohio that is an affirmative defence to speeding (provided you would otherwise be late to church). You're actually covered on the way home from church as well. And if they nonetheless arrest you, they owe you ...

#5 just seems like straight up drive-by slander. Which makes me feel a bit skeptical the rest of the video is actually a good representation of him.

Re: A Lack of Fertilizer and the Haber Process

I think you would have to turn the clover under to get the nitrogen benefit, and clover is not tall enough for hay. Not sure if I am right. For legumes, you can turn them under to fertilize the field (i.e. for other crops). If you harvest them, most of the nitrogen they generated gets taken away in...

Re: A Lack of Fertilizer and the Haber Process

What kind of hay do you grow? Something like alfalfa or clover that can fix its own nitrogen wouldn’t need much if any nitrogen fertilizer.

Re: Your filing cabinet?

One time somebody threw away something that shouldn’t have been thrown away so now nothing gets thrown away ever. Everything (mostly receipts but also some notes and other documents) goes in to banker boxes which go into the far reaches of a storage room which is getting full. From there they go int...
