Re: Of Baptism
It is not a common belief. German Baptists sort of believe this. Followers of the Way in Boston has a very strong belief in this, to the point they think most Mennonite aren't saved due if they weren't fully immersed nor saved during instruction class. You are kidding here, right? Did they get this...

Re: Head Covering
It was generally a black hanging style back then. Little by little this style became more admissible here in the states as well, especially among moderately conservative groups like the Keystone Conference and Mid-Atlantic in PA, and especially among the younger folks. Really?? I was under the impr...

Re: The Trinity
Schleitheim doesn't really make any theological statements about God, it just seems to assume his existence as foundational to the Brotherly Union. www.anabaptistwiki.org/Schleitheim_Confession But, back to Dordrecht: "one ... God, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost" sounds at least implicit...

Re: The Trinity
It seems like this discussion has turned more into a judging of who the information came from and their motive rather than seeking truth for ourselves... :? Certainly I don't have everything right and just because someone in the past had some things wrong doesn't automatically make it that they hav...

Re: The Trinity
Which is worse, Arianism "heresy", or Constantine merging the church and state and waging war to expand his earthly kingdom? I can't really see what's majorly wrong with Arianism or why any of should even care. Jesus is the Son of God, and 1 Corinthians 11 describes the headship order of ...

Re: The Trinity
I wonder how Jesus felt about people using violence and warfare to kill "heretics" who didn't believe quite the right doctrine about the nature of Jesus. Yeah, Nicea must have been quite a show. Including fights; http://www.stnicholascenter.org/pages/bishop-nicholas-loses-his-cool/ My gue...

Hanukkah Blessings to all
I hope everyone has a blessed "Feast of Dedication", (John 10:22-23) also known at Hanukkah. We members of the Hasmonean dynasty have been commanded to publicize the great miracle of the single vial of oil, anticipated to last but a single night, lasting eight days. Let all of us remember,...

Neto: As far as "assumed Manhood into itself", likely the scripture they had in mind was: Phil 2:6-8 Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, be...

Re: Who "owns" the Conservative Anabaptists?
MCUSA, in my opinion, has much more in common with evangelical churches than with conservative anabaptist churches. I feel like literally the only thing we have in common is the name Mennonite. If MCUSA has become more like the evangelical churches, they might be looking at their future in this art...
