Re: Contraception as factor in the Abortion Problem
it has not increased, but is decreasing (hallelujah)...without a strongman. Before any of these latest changes (Pres, Supreme Court etc) abortions had/have decreased to levels not seen since Roe v Wade...It's not perfection, but it's still good. The Guttmacher Report itself admits that in states wh...

Re: On Civility
So what is Haidt's advice to conservatives then because your quote doesn't seem to give one explicitly?

Re: Contraception as factor in the Abortion Problem
I'll answer and say with some measure of hesitancy that I do not think Christians should advocate or themselves use contraceptives. I say that I do so hesitantly because I'm going with my gut on this one, though I have given this issue some thought in the past.

Re: On Civility
I think one of the problems today isn’t just the lack of civility, but also empathy. We are at a moment when the political powers are telling us that empathy is for suckers and losers. That makes it incredibly difficult for us to actually listen to one another. And that's exactly what I see those o...

Re: Gorsuch vs. Kavanaugh
Neither is a system where there is no real investigation that could uncover evidence when the charges are this serious. And it is not just one set of charges. If there is no room for a real investigation, you can guarantee that there will not be sufficient evidence for the charges. That is the issu...

Re: Gorsuch vs. Kavanaugh
It really seems like you have this backwards here Boot: Disproving the charges is the way to "rebuke the tactics". If the charges were false. The burden of proof isn't on Kavanaugh. He simply is not and should not be required to prove his innocence, or as you say, "disprove the charge...

Re: On Civility
I like much of what I read in the original post but it strikes me that while civility within the Church as we discuss controversial topics is certainly achievable, civility in the wider society, especially in the political realm, is no longer attainable. Alasdair McIntyre talked about this in his bo...

Re: Gorsuch vs. Kavanaugh
Do you have historical proof of this claim? How does a claim like this heal partisan divides? As I see it, the extremes of both sides are probably equally guilty in this regard, while the majority of both sides neither participate in, advocate for or condone what you term, "organized offensive...
