I haven't gone through all the entries in this thread but since our local Presbyterian church recently closed and others such as our local United Churcn of Canada and perhaps a couple others are on the brink of closing in our city, I will make this entry.

This article predicts some 9,000 churches will be closing in Canada over the next 10 years. Roughly 1/3 of faith-owned buildings. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton ... -1.5150876

Any thoughts on this ?

About 7 months ago, MATT WALSH (Catholic) posted this video.
Unfortunately, it follows years of quiet warnings about Christianity in Canada.

At one point i read something that described “most churches” in Canada were funded in whole or part by Canada’s government ..
including the Catholic Church.

In West Canada, lesterb shared some about how his fellowship took measures to remain independent (esp to retain the freedom to determine school curriculum)! His fellowship kept records as proof when gov came calling .. and, lester explained, gov does come calling.

Matt Walsh / “Canada Outlawed Christianity And Nobody Noticed” | Ep. 876 / 50min (first 2min ads)

^^ MW addresses outlawing Christianity in the first 10 min.

Canada is in position to serve as the “canary in the coal mine,” for those willing.
Unfortunately, U.S. egos doze, satisfied and at rest, the U.S. is “always leading!” - i beg to differ!

👑

now charles+camilla?

there won’t be another elizabeth.
there are things about her that remind me of my mother. quiet reserve. steadfastness. traits that weren’t so uncommon in the past.

altho, william+kate appear solid. esp for the times. they seem comfortable in their own skins.
not everyone could manage those skins.

She did indeed and thank you. She will indeed be missed by me. I feel she represented the best of how we Brits would wish the world to see us. She worked as a mechanic in the motor pool during WWII alongside her countrymen and women. She was a mother of children who, as adults, sometimes gave her troubles. She was a grandmother who loved her family. Her lovely sense of humor sustained us in our most troubled political times yet she herself remained above the political fray. In short, she was a worker, a wife and a mother as well as a monarch and regardless of how individual Brits sway politically, most of us saw her as a beloved family member. Requiescat in pace, Lilibet.
My favorite quote of hers:
"When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future." - Queen Elizabeth II

Wow, 26 years of not being 'on the throne' ! I am there often and more so as I age.

But seriously, she truly was an amazing lady in many ways.

Strangely, legalizing and funding suicide was not enough.
Now followed with commercializing - and romanticizing.
