Music - Passera', passera' ..

Post by temporal1 »

Without understanding a word of this Italian song, by the quartet, Il Divo, i've enjoyed it for years -
Passera'

today, i looked up the lyrics, Italian to English translation -
likely a little awkward translation, but, the message is "timely" :)
"It will go away, it will go away" ..
http://lyricstranslate.com/en/Passera-Passera.html

about the temporal nature of life on earth.

i enjoy this men's quartet, such different personalities and backgrounds
Il Divo
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Il_Divo
in brief -
Il Divo (Italian pronunciation: [il ˈdiːvo]) is a multinational classical crossover vocal group.
The male quartet originated in the United Kingdom in December 2003,[1] bringing together singers
Urs Bühler (Switzerland),
Carlos Marín (Spain),
David Miller (USA), and
Sébastien Izambard (France).
This thread is for music ..

i'm hoping to see a word here from ohio jones about this first selection, because of his involvement with music, especially the Sarasota Male Voice Festival .. many who post and read-only, are involved with music in their lives and worship.

oj, what would you do with the voices in this quartet, if they appeared on your doorstep and wanted to join in song? what would you do with Carlos? of the 4, he strikes me as especially unique in voice and self-presentation.

I have Bill Gaither on speed dial, just in case. 8-)

I'd invite them in for coffee, of course, ask them to sing this song a cappella, have a chat about the lyrics, and find out what their relationship is with the things that ne passera pas.

1. it's well to be prepared;
2. see what i mean about Carlos? he's always doing that;
3. what if they don't speak French?

Father Ray Kelly demonstrates: no judging a book by its cover
Halleluja

there is something about his mannerisms and modest smile that reminds me of a fav pastor.
pleasant memories.

1996 / Pavarotti and Eric Clapton / Holy Mother

it's hard to choose which part is best.
the choir is wonderful. the choir director!

watching the silent response from EC and different choir members when Pavarotti begins is .. a life moment. they seem filled with awe at such a powerful voice. each of them so gifted!
God created each one.

listening alone, i can indulge in full tears, just listening+viewing.
i have this problem in church, too, having to fight back tears. sometimes it's so hard.
sermons and music can be so touching. i can just fall apart. :-|

i mean, i fall apart inside, i'm too well trained to be so emotional in public like that.
when i see others do it, i empathize. :) i know that kind of emotion.

our music was usually a cappella. always the choir, not recorded music.
occasionally, one member would do some accompaniment with a trumpet. ever so tastefully, he knew how to highlight the choir without overwhelming them. such talent and grace.

once, i shared this (fighting tears in church) "secret" with a church elder, a big guy, a tough business owner, of few words, he's passed away, now years ago.

he just looked at me and gently said, "i do that, too." :)
after that, i have not been so hard on myself over it.

when i'm alone, i just let the waterworks flow!
God's grace is the ultimate beauty.

i cannot think of Eric Clapton without remembering the tragic death of his young son in 1991.
i'm sure it impacts his every thought. i pray for him. sometimes you wonder how life can go on after losses like that. pain beyond description. somehow, God provides strength beyond our ability to imagine.
