goat baby
Has anyone else heard the Amish "goat baby" mystery? Some people I work with were watching some documentary about the Amish and this came up.

Re: Questions for Anabaptists: Plain or Old Order
Apparently about ten years ago, someone did a TV series on "hauntings of the Amish," loosely based on rumors among the plain community. Some coworkers recently asked me about it and I have never seen any of it.Josh wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 10:54 amNow I’m curious… I have not heard of this.steve-in-kville wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 10:48 am Has anyone else heard the Amish "goat baby" mystery? Just another fake "Amish" TV show that is so far from the truth. Like "Breaking Amish" and "Lebanon Levi". I knew the one girl (A Mennonite) who was on "Breaking Amish" and she had left the Mennonites long before she went on the show. Yet the show had her dress up in Mennonite garb, and projected her as just coming out of the Mennonite culture.

I watched a short clip of this at lunchtime. The characters spoke Dutch but it didn't sound right to me. But I see what you're saying: they're after the ratings.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 1:34 pmsteve-in-kville wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 10:56 amApparently about ten years ago, someone did a TV series on "hauntings of the Amish," loosely based on rumors among the plain community. This would get ratings? Now it has been 10 years since I watched tv, has it changed that much?steve-in-kville wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 1:58 pmI watched a short clip of this at lunchtime. Every single reality show is fake. Not just the Amish ones.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 1:34 pmsteve-in-kville wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 10:56 amApparently about ten years ago, someone did a TV series on "hauntings of the Amish," loosely based on rumors among the plain community. For example, there was a show on a few years ago called "Alaska Bush People" about a supposed family living in the bush near where I used to live in the Juneau area. Bunch of fraudsters and completely fake. Yet it ran several seasons.
