Acapella music recommendation

Post by Pelerin »

I‘ve recently been listening to acapella music from the Church of Greenville (South Carolina, I think). I tend to get tired of some of the more popular, oversung hymns (looking at you, “Amazing Grace”), so I appreciate that they have a very broad range of hymns, many from off the beaten path. I’ve particularly been enjoying the psalms from the Scottish Psalter, which I haven’t had a lot of exposure to before. The church appears to be a fundamentalist Calvinist church and I think they got the Psalter from that heritage. There’s around 200 hymns altogether and best of all, you can download them all for free! Click each album and then click “Download Album” underneath the in-browser player.

P.S. I know it isn’t, but I always think of “Faith of Our Fathers” as an Anabaptist hymn. It just feels like it should be one of ours and not, you know, one of theirs that actually wielded dungeon, fire, and sword against us.
