I heard this for the first time yesterday, a hymn called Here With Us.
It's still a mystery to me
That the hands of God could be so small
How tiny fingers reaching in the night
Were the very hands that measured the sky

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Heaven's love reaching down to save the world
Hallelujah, hallelujah, son of God, servant King
Here with us, You're here with us

It's still a mystery to me
How His infant eyes have seen the dawn of time
How His ears have heard an angel's symphony
But still Mary had to rock her Savior to sleep

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Heaven's love reaching down to save the world
Hallelujah, hallelujah, son of God, servant King
Here with us, You're here with us
You're here with us

Jesus, the Christ, born in Bethlehem
A baby born to save, to save the souls of man

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Heaven's love reaching down to save the world
Hallelujah, hallelujah, son of God, servant King
Here with us

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Heaven's love reaching down to save the world
Hallelujah, hallelujah, son of God, servant King
Here with us, You're here with us
You're here with us

Is it biblical? Is it Christlike? Is it loving? Is it true? How can I find out?

Still, Still With Thee
Still, still with thee, when purple morning breaketh,
When the bird waketh, and the shadows flee;
Fairer than morning, lovelier than daylight,
Dawns the sweet consciousness, I am with thee.

Alone with thee, amid the mystic shadows,
The solemn hush of nature newly born;
Alone with thee in breathless adoration,
In the calm dew and freshness of the morn.

When sinks the soul, subdued by toil, to slumber,
Its closing eye looks up to thee in prayer;
Sweet the repose beneath thy wings overshading,
But sweeter still to wake and find thee there.

So shall it be at last, in that bright morning,
When the soul waketh and life's shadows flee;
O in that hour, fairer than daylight dawning,
Shall rise the glorious thought, I am with thee.

I love this one, but I've yet to hear it sung in any church I've attended.
KB~ we don't have the original words in our hymnbook, but we do use the tune occasionally to various long meter hymns, such as the Doxology, From Every Stormy Wind That Blows, When I Survey, etc.
I love the tune - but did not realize it is a long metre double. I have retired from song leading or I might be tempted to try it sometime. Do you also use hymn books without notes?
Hats Off (or anybody) - Do you know of any Mennonites where there are not assigned song leaders? We traditionally grew up with deacons starting most of our songs, but we've never had a particular assigned song leader, and now any brother can lead a song, though it naturally tends to devolve upon the few that are more gifted in that area.

I think the Ohio Wislers would qualify. When I visited one of their churches, everyone was seated for the singing. Those who desired to sing a song would lead their selection from the bench. If they weren't able to do that, someone else would lead.

I have cousins in a conservative Beachy church where the person who calls out the song number leads the song. They may not always be the best song leader in the group but they are used to doing it that way and it works. I think they can also just ask "someone please lead" after they call the number.

The Amish song leaders have it rough. The leaders sings the entire first syllable of each line by himself. If you know about Amish church singing, you know that can be quite a line of music. My parents were Amish till I was nine, and we've been to some weddings over the years. They don't have leaders per se, but whoever picks the song leads it. It can sound sometimes like the leader can barely get the song off the ground. My guess is that the tradition in the Beachy church I mentioned is influenced by the Amish singing tradition.

The Groffdale and Weaverland conferences in Pa and other states have a song leaders table. I believe it is always the same people at the song leaders table, but I would guess that if there was room, and someone wanted to join, they could without special invitation. We have two song leaders appointed for each district.

Mansion, Robe, and Crown
I'm gonna trade my earthly home for a better one bright and fair.
Christ left to prepare a mansion for His children in the air.
I'll join Him in that land where tears nor sorrow can be found.
And I'll receive my Mansion, Robe and Crown.

Chorus –
[Soprano, Alto and Tenor]
Mansion, robe and a crown.
There love always abound.
Let me Your throne surround.
Lord, please reserve my mansion robe and crown.
[Bass]
Lord I want a brand new mansion, robe and a crown in glory.
There I know that love and peace will always abound forever.
Let me be among the saved to your throne surround.
Lord please reserve my mansion robe and crown.

The weather there is always fair.
There is sunshine day and night.
No cold and no rain will fall there for the Son shines ever bright.
I'll need no heavy garments, I'll just wrap my robe around.
When I receive my mansion robe and crown.

Chorus

My head is bowed and bloody from the work that I've tried to do.
But one day I'll be rewarded with a crown so bright and new.
I'll wear a smile so bright for there'll be no cause for a frown,
When I receive my mansion robe and crown

Chorus
A pretty unique tune, for me at least. Any of you familiar with it? Upon looking at acapella recordings, the only one CA one to be found comes from some CGCM singers.
Here is a recording from a CoC church, where the tune seems more popular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDHHAwqDpzU

O Thou in whose presence my soul takes delight,
On whom in affliction I call,
My comfort by day, and my song in the night,
My hope, my salvation, my all.

Where dost Thou at noontide resort with Thy sheep,
To feed on the pastures of love?
Say, why in the valley of death should I weep,
Or alone in the wilderness rove?

O, why should I wander an alien from Thee,
And cry in the desert for bread?
Thy foes will rejoice when my sorrows they see,
And smile at the tears I have shed.

Ye daughters of Zion declare, have ye seen
The star that on Israel shone?
Say, if in your tents my Belovèd has been,
And where, with His flocks, He is gone.

This is my Belovèd; His form is divine;
His vestments shed odors around:
The locks of His head are as grapes on the vine,
When autumn with plenty is crowned.

The roses of Sharon, the lilies that grow
In vales, on the banks of the streams:
On His cheeks, all the beauties of excellence glow,
And His eyes are as quivers of beams.

His voice, as the sound of the dulcimer sweet,
Is heard through the shadows of death;
The cedars of Lebanon bow at His feet,
The air is perfumed with His breath.

His lips as a fountain of righteousness flow,
That waters the garden of grace,
From which their salvation the Gentiles shall know,
And bask in the smiles of His face.

Love sits on His eye-lids, and scatters delight
Through all the bright mansions on high;
Their faces the cherubim veil in His sight,
And tremble with fullness of joy.

He looks, and ten thousands of angels rejoice,
And myriads wait for His word;
He speaks, and eternity, filled with His voice,
Re-echoes the praise of her Lord.

Dear Shepherd, I hear and will follow Thy call;
I know the sweet sound of Thy voice.
Restore and defend me, for Thou art my all,
And in Thee I will ever rejoice.

I always enjoy this one, though if you get a congregation prone to slowing down mid-song it can be a bit frustrating. Curious if any of you use it in your worship services, and if anybody uses all the verses?
