Re: LASIK surgery?
I know a handful of people that had it done years ago when it just started to become popular.
Sad thing is, they all wear glasses now, at least for some things.

Re: LASIK surgery?
i read some about it a few years ago when my son was considering becoming a pilot.
there are risks, pros+cons, beside the costs. he did not act on any of it. i have mixed feelings on it, knowing flying was something he dreamed of from childhood.
researching from a pilot’s pov might net the most comprehensive results.
it’s a really serious matter for them.

Same with all my friends who had it done. 2 years later and they needed glasses again.steve-in-kville wrote:I know a handful of people that had it done years ago when it just started to become popular.

Re: LASIK surgery?
I know people who have done it and they seem happy with it, but I would not do it. With few exceptions, i would only get eye surgery if it is necessary. I actually had eye surgery several years ago for cataracts. I had one eye done and they waited about 18 months before I got the other one done. In that eye, the cataract had gotten so bad that they could not correct my eye to focus more than a foot out because the clouded lens was breaking up the light.
Now I only need to wear glasses to drive, and wear them out walking as I can see better at distance. But indoors, unless it is a large are like the chapel, I don't need them.
One thing I learned is that if you wore glasses all your life and then suddenly don't need them anymore, get a good pair of safety glasses and wear them anytime you are working in the yard, workshop, etc. It is very easy to get poked in the eye trimming trees and shrubs, etc.

Re: LASIK surgery?
I had PRK done which I would recommend over LASIK. It’s less risky. The only down side is a more painful recovery.
