It would be nice if there was a site setup similar to FB but for Christians to keep in touch with friends and family. Share photos, events, sermons, online bible study, etc all in one place.

yes. i don't think learning "how to use the internet" is finished yet.
modern roads+highways were built after Model-T's, not before.

Who would be the target audience? A challenge is we Christians aren't terribly great at tolerating each other.

I haven't checked it recently, but Evangelical Christians in Brazil started FaceGloria some time back. Their vision was to expand to other countries, but Zuckerman tried to stop them from using the "face" part of FaceBook.

It would be wise not to call such a thing a name too similar to an existing service.

ultra-rich people have taken legal ownership of a lot of common language words-phrases.
"face?" really? :-| i admire the Brazilian effort. has it survived?

zuckerberg has made a nuisance of himself in hawaii, too. mz likes walls.

interesting how thinking about rules varies when it's "thee, not, me." :P

coincidence this thread was refreshed.
on Sunday afternoon i submitted [required] documents to FB for their perusal.
got a message from them this afternoon that my account has been reactivated.

i'm free to return to my former low use, 1 friend, FB page. :?
thanks, mark. now you have 2 billion and 1 members.

from 2015 .. evidently, this young authoress doesn't appreciate the FaceGloria effort ..
she mentions a few similar efforts by others ..

re: FaceGloria & FaceBook
They originally stated that they would start an English version soon, but I think M.Z.s threats have prevented that here in the US. I don't think he can stop them from doing what ever they want in Brazil, though. This is Carnival season in Brazil, and pictures of totally nude participants even appear in the newspapers. Porn is everywhere. I've seen kids less than teenage running magazine booths, where the trash was not only available, but with advertising posters on the outside of the shack. So there is a reason for Brazilian Christian people to want an alternative to FaceBook. I have made complaints about inappropriate posts, but they have always responded that it was within their rules. So I just delete stuff every day. If this was not my main connection to scattered family & friends, I would get off of it.

it would be interesting to know. in the HuffPo article, it said the site accumulated 100,000 members in a short period, that reflects interest! (including MZ's legal interest, evidently.)
the writer's predictable disdain for Christians paints a now common picture of a typical liberal college student's attitude. people actually pay tuitions for that result. no refunds. sigh.

indeed. i've read a little about it. i know a family that adopted older children "from the streets" in S America. they will probably never know all the types of abuse+neglect those children experienced.

i cringe to think what children are subjected to in the U.S.; overall, they may have better housing and food, but their minds are subjected to porn and violence, idolatry - in their very homes, through music, videos, printed materials, etc. economic status guarantees nothing.

i've had some success with having awful posts removed. i have also received their message about "it's within their rules," but not every time. in the process, i have those offensive posters blocked from my view.

when FB locked me out last October, i was really glad i had 1 "friend." not hundreds.
i could imagine, for those who have many, it would be significant. so, "note to self" about not getting overly invested in it.

FB is not as popular as it was, maybe a better way will be coming along?

imho, cyberspace is in its infancy. it will take time to really learn how to make good use of it.
time, not, nanoseconds!

Question regarding Facebook, The Blaze, Prager University, and various (conservative Christian?) sites?? :?
Robert,
in recent weeks/months, i signed up to “follow “The Blaze,” because you have referred to this site (for as long as i recall on forum.) Prager U, evidently, is part of that package. reports show up in my FB news feed.

i receive a few updates from what i suppose would be labeled conservative Christian sites (?) .. i’m interested in different views. i do not agree with all presented, AND, i often read comments from other readers, to try to get an idea of what ordinary people are thinking. sometimes, to my dismay, other times, encouraging. i enjoy reading about things that are happening in other countries, and, what everyday people in other countries are thinking.

in recent weeks, FB seems to be restricting The Blaze, and Prager U, also, some of these other sites. i’m not sure of their rationale, which to restrict, which to allow?

another “freaky” thing is, FB now seems to “crash” without warning, it lasts for varying times. sometimes, i shut down my (ipad) give it some time, then begin again. results are mixed. (i have not used my laptop since spring, so, not sure if this would happen on my laptop.)

just wondering what you might know, are you (or others) experiencing similar?
The Blaze is one that seems consistently restricted by FB. not banned, but restricted.

I have noticed recently that it will not allow me to hide or delete certain types of non-solicited posts.
