One man engine swaps were commonplace back in my days of wrenching. My first major car repair was on my 1954 Chevy DelRay. To make a long story short, I pulled the motor and transmission (I was 16 years old at the time), much to my father's dismay, in the barn. He and my sisters were sure I would never get it back together again. It only spurred me on more. I changed from an automatic transmission to a standard transmission and put a floor shift in it. I proceeded to blow the transmissions about every two weeks and got it down to being able to swap the tranny out in half an hour. My first car, and certainly not my last engine pull-swap. The next was a 1957 Chevy Convertible and I did the same thing in that car...Lots of fond memories from when I was a skinny young fellow.

Are you into aircooled VWs at all?

No, I don't fool with air cooled. Mostly just 1999 - newer.

Gotta love the Bugs. I had one back in the day, with wheel adapters on it so I could run 14" Chevy wheels, a header and new paint job. It was a 66. I watch several fellows on Youtube who are big into VWs. One fellow likes the single/double cab trucks. Seems these older vehicles are getting harder to find anymore and still pretty pricey even in rough shape. Any pics to post?

One man engine drops are an easy job on the old bugs especially. Back in the day I could drop one in about 20 minutes, now it takes me 20 minutes to get back up off the floor...
