it’s hard to grasp what a huge problem it is, and, i agree with you, it can lead to horrible treatment of others, in addition to self-inflicted hell.
i know little about these measures, but, the problems are so widespread, governments are attempting response! (for me) this gives a clue about the high costs associated with it.
i don’t believe that gov mandates are the answer, we can pray they don’t make everything worse, which seems to be a frequent unintended consequence.

porn has existed throughout history.
with the advent of “techie devices in everyone’s hands,” the readily-available, hard to ignore, MASSIVE QUANTITIES have exponentially worsened the problems.
i just don’t believe the human brain was designed to cope with these (infinite) quantities.
add to that, lester’s point about how the male brain processes images, the visual.
i believe we are still infants in understanding how to handle technology; so far, there are some very rough edges. we can hope, in future, people will look on this period and think, “how ghastly! - what were they thinking?!”
however, many have complained for decades about shoddy tv programming, which has generally only worsened, to the degree many no longer view any of it. (not only those with religious convictions.)
different organized measures have been attempted to control tv programming (similar to these anti-porn measures?) .. but, results are not spectacular.
lester is on the right path, it’s about personal convictions, self restraint, understanding the high costs+dangers. understanding sin is not innocuous. personal choices have community costs, even when not intended.
refusing temptation can be deeply painful in the moment.
a person must be convinced the rewards are greater.
