Brier Island Webcam Nova Scotia
http://www.novascotiawebcams.com/en/web ... er-island/

i tripped across this site recently, wondered if it might serve as MN's parallel to MD's briar patch?
a place to put posts that, perhaps, should go into exile on a cold remote northern island? ..

interesting, the webcam is not active right now, they are looking for a new sponsor and location .. presumably, on Brier Island. :P

i'm happy to say, i have nothing to begin. :blah:

Now to see what transpires here on MN's Brier Island,
and, hopefully, one day, on Nova Scotia's Brier Island.

first snow today.
it looks just-like the snowfall in this video. timely.

we had the most beautiful, un-November, November, warm, sunny, dry, many trees kept their October colours; now Dec 4, some trees still have their October leaves+colours!

i count the weeks until spring .. 'hope the winter won't be too harsh.

When we fellowship with conservative Anabaptist's I really feel at home and connected with most all of them. I feel my heart is against divorce and remarriage but yet as what was said about culture and background my mind was struggling with this idea, and I wasn't sure if I could discredit the exception clause and wanted to read scripture right without omitting. Besides with my background being a backwoods hick where alcoholism, domestic violence, adultery and the such were not foreign. It seemed there were legitimate reasons for divorce and even possibly remarriage...

It may come as a surprise from some of my posts but my heart has been fighting with my mind about this.

Meditating about things in scripture coupled with the thread really helped exercise my mind if that is the right wording in helping it connect to what my heart had been telling.

Thank you to all for participating and really being a big help in seeking out God's will and design in this matter.
i'll bunny trail with you.
it helps to know that we are not the judge, or to judge.
there is rampant brokenness in the world, trust that your experience is not unique!
i wish it were.

we are to seek Light, Light will help all.
that does not mean there is not pain. there certainly is.
but, anyone is free to acquire Light, no matter circumstances.
it requires choice, and, most often, change.

i see no conflict in things you have shared, combined with empathy for those not so moved, or those living in abject ignorance. this is what being a Salt and Light is, in our families, and in the world.

i'm glad you have folks you are able to fellowship with. what a blessing.
i'm sure they are blessed to have you and your family.
time will bring many answers to you.
in case these need to be moved. :-|

one important part of the CM response to divorce+remarriage is, it's not forced on others, and should not be. this would quickly become legalistic, the heart of it lost.

we will be judged on our hearts. Jesus knows our hearts, there is no escape.

I have been around my share of CMs who felt at complete liberty to force their view of divorce and remarriage on others.

Once myself and some other people would invite guests to a men's Bible study. Once I did so to a man who was divorced and remarried. When a born-and-raised CM present found this out, he referred to "your real wife", called the man an adulterer (which left the man very confused as he had never heard of a teaching against divorce and remarriage in his particular situation before), and told the person he was goong to hell.

After that, I decided not to invite anyone divorced or D&R'd to Bible study anymore.

isn't it sad that this was the first time in this man's life he ever heard of the idea? i have no doubt this was the case. i pray for this widespread ignorance to end! how can people make wise decisions in complete ignorance?

i would hope you would continue to invite men to join you; if i were you, i would share some insights about what to expect, prior to the visit. if there is interest, these interactions can be overcome, they might be welcome! some would want to know more, even if it was new+difficult thinking for them.

strange as it may seem, this awkward moment, if the Holy Spirit chooses, might open a new door for your friend. i empathize with your discomfort. it really is up to the Holy Spirit to determine.

awkward and wrong happen, there is no setting guaranteed to never fail.
Anabaptist or other.

having said that, my understanding is based on what i've read from CM's on MD-MN.
these have been careful and consistent about sharing their understandings while not putting those expectations on others. which i think is as fair as it can be.

i have come across various non-Anabaptist ones in my life who are not nearly as charitable as that.
some visiting my home, or passing out tracts in public places. you likely have, too.

Bluenose II was launched in 1963 and has acted as Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador ever since.
Bluenose II promotes our maritime heritage and maintains a connection to the legacy of Bluenose and the age of sail. It provides the opportunity to experience sailing tradition and serves as a welcoming representative of its home.

Steeped in history, it has been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, and remains one of Nova Scotia’s premiere travel destinations.

During the sailing season (June to September) Bluenose II takes passengers on harbour cruises, and is open to the public for deck tours. Check the schedule to see where you can find Bluenose II. ..
