That's right. And after you have prayed, if you still feel like complaining, maybe it's time for a prayer of thanksgiving.

Does anyone know whether this Josh Good has any Menno background?
At the risk of touting my own horn, here is a sermon I preached last July in a similar vein.

No doubt Reinhold Niebuhr would have enjoyed the irony of how Niebuhrian some "Anabaptists" have become in the present situation.
Interesting message that I completely agree with.

I have come to the conclusion that the religious right is largely an implementation of the ideas of Reconstructionism, as taught by Rousias Rushdooney and Gary North, which was in turn popularized by Francis Schaffer in his later works. Is your take on it the same?

Blessings,

My opinion of this would be the same. I was involved in a few campaigns in my misspent youth, and that is actually where I first learned about Reconstructionism.

I did not vote for either of the major candidates. Can I still complain?

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not after you.

If a hermit complains (nobody around to hear him) is it still considered complaining?

i've never heard anyone complain when Christians pray for their leaders, i've never heard a Christian claim it's wrong to do so. (not just for political leaders, but for all in leadership roles.)

i do believe in special prayers for those in leadership; for them to be guided on good/godly paths.

EdselB, yours is a "treasure-trove" of links to lots more, thank you.
you covered many points in 1 hour! i need to listen again while taking notes.

these links could be a thread of their own, or each with its own thread.

Honest question: Is it godly to pray against a particular leader...or must our prayers always be supportive? King David seems to have done both.

Absolutely - I think we must pray against the wicked aims of leaders. I believe we can do so while respecting their office and position as being God-appointed.
