It's actually totally doable. It's very difficult if you bend your arm sharply back (the usualy method), but if you simply extend your arm fully upward and slightly out, it's doable.

It may be doable for someone of your age but for us old(er) people it is not so easy anymore. I went to set something heavy down on the ground and ended up with my nose and glasses on the wet grass while I took several rolls. My nose hurts as does my head (not to mention my pride.) And when I told my wife she said (Why didn't you ask for help?)
