Olney Buckinghamshire Pancake Race
Pancake racing - on pancake day (Shrove Tuesday), local residents race against each other (as individuals or in teams) down the road in their village or town to the finishing point, carrying a pancake in a frying pan; and involves tossing (flipping) the pancake at some point during the race. It seems to have started in 1445 AD.

Vasaloppet 2023
100-year tradition that combines elite and recreational athletes ski together as they take on a 90km cross country course in the hills of Sweden. Couldn’t find an official tally of participants in this mass start but there is mention of 10,000 racers in total. One of those racers did the entire course backwards to raise money for ambulances in the Ukraine.
