I'm glad someone figured this out. I figured it fit with all the other bar jokes, but with a different twist (rebar)

Would it have been different if I said, "A Lutheran walked into a bar, it made a real impression on him..."?silentreader wrote:In both scenarios the consequenses were painful enough that I didn't find them funny. Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not after you.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

No mixed emotions necessary...hypocrisy helps however...temporal1 wrote:george!gcdonner wrote: Would it have been different if I said, "A Lutheran walked into a bar, it made a real impression on him..."?

i sometimes have that awful feeling of “mixed emotions.” i try not to dwell on it. it feels like my better side battling with my not-good side. maybe your word, hypocrisy, is the reason why.gcdonner wrote:No mixed emotions necessary...hypocrisy helps however...temporal1 wrote:george!gcdonner wrote: Would it have been different if I said, "A Lutheran walked into a bar, it made a real impression on him..."?

I'm not sure, I know I can be hypocritical with the best/worst. But it might not have brought back memories.gcdonner wrote:No mixed emotions necessary...hypocrisy helps however...temporal1 wrote:george!gcdonner wrote: Would it have been different if I said, "A Lutheran walked into a bar, it made a real impression on him..."?

It certainly brings back memories for me, which makes me appreciate the Grace of God a whole lot more than it might for some others. In my case the statement would have said, "A Baptist walked into a bar..."silentreader wrote:I'm not sure, I know I can be hypocritical with the best/worst. Slapstick can take on many avenues and is often over the top, and I confess that this may have been. I have walked into both kinds of bars and ended up seeing stars, though caused by different things. The metal actually hurts less now than the barroom experiences.
The lesson is to be mindful...in either case.
