Canna bulbs? When to dig up?

In all likelihood we are having our first frost as I type this. I'm hearing different things from co-workers as to when these need to come out of the ground for the winter. They were still blooming as of yesterday.

Or maybe I'm too late?

I usually waited till it frosted and then dug them. I don't think it really matters, as long as you get the bulbs out before they freeze.

I'm pretty sure in Zone 7 and warmer you can leave the rhizomes in the ground. In other areas wait til the frost has killed off the foliage.

The morning glories are more/less done for. Not sure about my pole beans. I think I planted them too late as they got big and long but never filled out. Its a lima bean and I was looking forward to some fresh limas!

We took ours in Monday after they got hit by frost but not fully dead and still had a few flowers. The woman I got the bulbs from hasn't dug hers yet even though they are now completely killed above ground. I've read what I've done is best practice, but clearly not needed.

Just curious, are Canna Lilies the same as Flag Iris's ?
