One cannot have enough math.

A conversation at my table the other night
Son “if I get stuck on an island, I hope it has coconuts“
Father “ if I get stuck on an island I hope I have a math book“
Astonished looks
“ math is the language of the universe, without math you cannot build anything”
Dubious expressions
Meal resumes.

Whether it has coconuts depends on weight ratios and airspeed velocities of migratory swallows. Math, obviously.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.
