I would agree with others that you need to look for professional help. Please don't wait until there is some serious trouble. We will also try to remember you and him in prayer.

We are getting some good support from some church friends here. A professional is coming this afternoon for a home assessment.

You are so wise to seek help. often, we try to cope on our own, end up going in awful circles.
when i think of my family’s situation, i ache for the years they “suffered in silence,” not knowing what to do, blaming themselves .. never actually helping anything. how could they?! they had no experience or tools to cope with it. i so admire how they tried.

this is the better way. i hope it helps every one touched by this. each one needs help knowing how to effectively respond. we do not live in tidy little detached compartments. when one hurts, others hurt.

so wonderful you were able to get response right away.
this is a real opportunity for your son, and for your family, to learn to cope with the reality.
i believe it will be a marathon, not a sprint. so. pace yourselves. :)

peace be with you.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

He's doing much better, but not planning well. He took a job in Martha's Vineyard and is on Amtrak getting into Boston this evening. He has little money and no plans how to spend the night before he gets public transportation to Martha's Vineyard tomorrow. Anyone have a Boston contact who might put him up for the night?

Prayers appreciated!

I was able to contact Pastor Bruce of the Mennonite Church of Boston, who said he'd help him. We are giving thanks.
