I have just been assuming that "neurodivergent" is just the new euphemism for autistic or on the autism spectrum. Kind of like how we now say disabled instead of handicapped. Does it mean something more than that?

Interesting how our names for things change over time. "Depression" used to be called "melancholia" back in the 19th century. That seems like a much more elegant and descriptive term. "Depression" sounds more like a low spot in the highway or something involving a machine press.
