We went deer hunting this morning but nothing was out and about: too cold! We'll try again in late afternoon and if necessary, tomorrow a.m.

Hot coffee and tea is steaming from our mugs and hot buttered biscuits are stoking our shivering bodies. The cold was raw this morning and we felt it to our bones.

The ladies and young ladies are making the Thanksgiving casseroles and veg to freeze and reheat Thursday. There's also a backup turkey thawing in the fridge should the deer remain in hiding.

Won't be online much this week because of the preparations and hunting. I pray all have a blessed time with family and friends for whom we all give thanks.

We got our buck. Two in fact. They've been dressed and butchered.

Thanks be to God who provides for our needs.

It was a good Thanksgiving with much to be thankful for. The economy in the area has been healthy lately. People are smiling and chatting again. Fewer folks in the campground but they enjoy their time here. In fact, this time around I've seen more campers interacting with others in real life. There were no computer addicts with their heads buried online: a good sign. Folks are actually enjoying God's creation.

The two bucks provided enough meat for the winter. We made Thanksgiving meals, jerky and froze the rest.

Snow and more snow. We had 4-5 inches last evening and spent the morning picking up broken branches and tending animals. It was a beautiful "slow snow" with wet lumpy flakes. :D

Our Christmas Day began with Mass and ended with a search party. It seems a local grandpa with dementia went outside to get some wood and wandered off. We joined the search party and he was found by some teens about a half mile from his house and was treated for hypothermia. Praise God for a happy ending to what could have been a tragic Christmas. :pray

Another day another project.

The old home had a leaky toilet and rotted some floor boards. I was helping the son remove the toilet and tear out the old floor that was affected. That's when my wife and our daughter-in-law saw it as an opportunity to "re-do" the bathroom.

So we're off to the hardware store to get wax rings, some flooring, some paneling, some moulding and some paint. I think the costs just quintupled. We keep saying to ourselves it's a two hour project but somehow it has turned into a ten day project.
Pray for us ... please!
