Favorite Thanksgiving side dishes?

Post by Ken »

The holidays are coming up soon and I usually do a lot of the Thanksgiving cooking in our homestead. We will probably have 12-15 here this Thanksgiving.

Just wondering if anyone has any favorite side dish recipes to try. We have the staples down, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pies, etc. But always looking for good side dish and vegetable ideas.

Stuffing with gravy. Here in Lancaster County it is called “filling”, though.

baked corn, corn casserole, scalloped corn, all variations of the same thing.
corn, and bread or crackers or jiffy or something, and some sort of binder like eggs or milk. those are the main ingredients.

Fresh or frozen green beans topped with toasted almonds.

Sweet potatoes, roasted or mashed but no sugar added- maybe topped with roasted nut topping that again has no sugar.
