Why do I feel the urge to start a Mennonite Smoothie thread as of a sudden? ;)

This thread would not be complete without reference to what is perhaps the most famous smoothie in pop culture:

What is a "smoothie blender"? What is a smoothie?

A smoothie is a mixture of fruit that you blend into a drink.

a smoothie blender makes the above.

For example...some of the favorites in my home are strawberry/banana/yogurt with a little almond milk. But the absolute favorite is bananas/peanut butter/dash of chocolate powder/tad bit of sweetner/yogurt and a splash of almond milk.

I like blueberry/greens/water.

so, it is a fruit salad in a cup I guess. sort of.

Got my blender a few days ago. So far its been banana-based smoothies with chia seeds. Last night I used some frozen fruit. Didn't burn the house down yet.

Thank you, Violet. I did not have a clue.

Thank you to Steve for this thread as well. My wife decided we needed an education on this phenomenon so we went to a local place that does smoothies. I had a blueberry smoothie with vanilla yogurt in it; quite tasty I might add.

As it happens we have a 50+ year old Oster blender that was in storage so we dug it out: it still works with the help of a little WD-40. After watching the people make the smoothies at the store my clever wife was able to replicate the blueberry. I think we are on to something new and tasty.

Found a few interesting recipe. Like adding kale and spinach. I'm sure they taste great once some fruit is added to balance it out.

The trick in my opinion when adding greens is to go with blueberries. It will look a lot more appetizing.

If you don't, it might be a bit of a visual "ick" at first even though it may taste good.

blueberries hide lots of things. :angel It is a great way to get kids to drink kale.
