In our travels we've come across some different names for pancakes. One couple we met called them "drop scones".

What do you prefer to call them?
Hotcakes
Pancakes
Flapjacks
Drop Scones
Griddle Cakes
Other Names

Pancakes for normal conversation. I've used "flapjacks" and "griddle cakes" for comic effect at times.

Perhaps there's good reason that there is no "International House of Griddle Cakes" or "Original Drop Scone House".
