Just an update, things didn't happen yesterday after all. Just one day closer to the real thing....

We'll keep praying.

Is it biblical? Is it Christlike? Is it loving? Is it true? How can I find out?

SS, we remember you and yours in prayer. You inspire us with your acceptance and calm in God's most holy will.

In the blur of the last few days, I apologize I forgot to update you all. (And this post got long!)
Baby Verlin James joined us Tues afternoon at 4:29 weighing 6lbs3oz and 18-1/2" long.
Baby Verlin had sticky lungs, but did manage one weak cry at birth. A breathing tube seemed to stabilize him and his oxygen stats improved greatly. The lead Dr on the team announced "he wants to come with us to the NICU"!
In the NICU it was discovered by ex-ray that the chest tube had caused air to get between Verlin's chest walls and lungs which resulted in comprised lung capacity. They put a chest tube in to relieve that air, and then discovered that the first chest tube was just a few centimeters too low to get all the air out. So they placed a second chest tube in the left side and got his breathing stabilized while being on a ventilator.
Finally four hours later they were able to get an altrasound done to check for the kidneys that were thought to be missing during the prenatal altrasounds. It turns out that the previous altrasounds were correct and baby Verlin did indeed not have kidneys. We then chose to just keep baby Verlin comfortable with pain medication and chose to keep him on life support until the next day when family could come in and see him.
Our other children arrived a little before lunch and were all able to hold baby Verlin while he was still alive, but attached to many tubes and wires.
The grand parents were coming from Pa (approx 5 hr drive) to hopefully see him while he was still alive. About 45 min before the grandparents got there, we noticed a real decline in baby Verlin's color and the nurse confirmed that his heart rate was slowing down.
They arrived in time to each get a turn to hold him while he was still living, though we could tell baby Verlin was fading fast.
At 2:45pm on Wed, we had the doctors pull the breathing tube while my wife held his earthly body. Baby Verlin stayed very peaceful and quickly slipped away from us 3 minites later.
We all took turns holding him for the next few hours as the hospital told us there was no rush to leave as we were in a private room with baby so we could have all family with us.
Yesterday we had a viewing and graveside service at our Church with lots of extended family from up to over 6 hours away join us.
The weather couldn't have been nicer for the middle of Feb, it was sunny and mid 70's*.
All of our siblings and parents were there as well as quite a number of my aunts and uncle.
Pray for us as we try to adjust to a "new normal" in the coming days and weeks.

Thank you!

continuing prayers for James Verlin, God loves him as much as any of us, His will be done.
praying for each of you as you adjust to your "new normal" which will never be exactly the same.
prayers for Horsegal to fully recover, find strength and love even greater on account of James Verlin.
thank you for sharing your journey and allowing us to join you and your family in prayer during this experience which just can't be understood in full, no matter how we try.
