i’m enjoying these 2 groups. i “follow” and read. lots of ideas.

one raised gardening bed idea to help keep critters out is to plant upside-down inexpensive forks-knives around the plants, or bed perimeter.
i have not tried it. but, it might work.

SLUGS
my daughter has a problem with “something” eating her plants at her front doorstep.
we suspected slugs.

i’ve read, slugs like beer. we bought some beer. expensive.

i filled a small, shallow dish with it, put it out. about 4” diameter, 1” deep.
overnight, three 2” slugs drowned.

hope it does the trick.

Beer works. So does diatomaceous earth which is nontoxic. Salt too.

Ah yes, the ultimate Mennonite ethical dilemma: Free beer.
originally, i looked for 1 single can of beer. it seemed so expensive.
my daughter came home with a 6-pack. :?
we don’t drink it. it takes up valuable frig space. :?

she said, “it was the same price as a single.”

i’m looking at recipes for beer cheese soup, sauce, dips .. soaking brats .. there may be a bread recipe?? .. anyway. you get the picture.
