Garbage Pickers

Post by Bootstrap »

When I pick up trash along the side of the road, I keep reaching into thorny bushes, bending over in uncomfortable positions, etc., and I can't help but think there's a more efficient way to do this. I've been thinking of getting a garbage picker for the task - something like what you see in the picture below.

What do you think, is this the right tool for the job? Is there a better tool? Does anyone have good experiences with a particular kind of garbage picker?

Is it biblical? Is it Christlike? Is it loving? Is it true? How can I find out?

My wife had to use one of those for 2 non-consecutive 8 week stretches while she had her hip-replacement recovery restrictions....and not just for garbage pick-up.

I often see the type with a sharpened point. I would think that both types would have their particular uses.

I use one like this to clean up litter in the neighbourhood I live in. Some of these have better grippers than others. Last time a neighbour lady joined in and we filled 14 garbage bags of litter out of a ditch beside a local walking path. Plus pulled out a couple shopping carts.

Funny story - I found a 10 dollar bill in the bottom of this ditch. Shortly later I found a 20 dollar bill. The next day I drove my car to a closer entry point to begin the clean up and didn't see a new restricted parking sign where I parked. Guess what the parking fine was ? 30 dollars. Easy come, easy go.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

Did you go to the one back the sideroad at NW when you were young? I remember going there with somebody but don't remember who. The earth seemed flat back then.
