Re: Are you out there, Temp?
i did not plan to take a break. i just did.
i wasn’t reading, fearing i would be tempted to “chime in.”
i found this meme, it made me think of you all.
reading these pages is like eavesdropping on a funeral. a few words for the deceased, then, catching up on news ..
after reading ^^ i have one more “most wonderful place to be” -
in someone’s joyful laughter.
.. carry on ..

my daughter excitedly tried to begin a sourdough starter.QuietlyListening wrote:Szdfan- how did the sour dough bread turn out?
time has passed. the topic has gone silent.
she is posting pics of beautifully baked whole wheat bread, the last was made with sorghum, having no honey in the house. her brother gave her sorghum for Christmas one year.

"One year." That probably means more than 4 months ago, and probably also more than 16 months ago. I have some things like that in my pantry, and I've been trying to use them up during this season of spending more time at home and doing more cooking.temporal1 wrote:her brother gave her sorghum for Christmas one year.

It turned out beautifully. I thought I had added too much salt because the unbaked loves were kind of flat and not as dense as they should be. But they rose really nicely in the oven. Beginners luck?QuietlyListening wrote:Szdfan- how did the sour dough bread turn out?

Son just made some with sourdough I gave him. One loaf with 1/2 tsp yeast and 1 without and said the one without was flatter. Now to find flour and yeast.

My wife told me I might have to take over bread making duties.QuietlyListening wrote: Son just made some with sourdough I gave him. One loaf with 1/2 tsp yeast and 1 without and said the one without was flatter. Now to find flour and yeast.
I actually did need a win, so that was awesome.

Definitely more than 4 months ago, possibly more than 16 months .. i cannot recall when he sent the sorghum. i hope she uses it up, now that she’s started.
i’ll have to read your posts to see if you’ve been keeping folks up to date on your cooking.
if you’ve neglected to do so, please begin! be sure to include the provenance of the ingredients.
i’m trying to recall what it was you carried on the train to (george’s?) Mennomeet? ..
i’m thinking taco salad?? you’ll remember!
i’ve been wondering if we would ever hear from you again! would enjoy a general update ..Once Again wrote:Glad you're okay, Temp.
Robert should have members agree to check in every year or so .. even if they’ve altogether “sworn off” the forum. some have, even some of these occasionally return.
Last winter i was really hoping missing folks would drop in to say hello.
It happens now+then.
