I love her line especially: “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.” This is something we should all realize, all the time, like many things you only begin to realize when you have been given the gift of only one more year (or six months, or 1 month) of living.

Yes, her comment is very true.

I've often thought of this--on the one hand, this was true of Jesus:

He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom [people] hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him. [Isa 53:3 NASB20]

Yet this was also true:

"YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS; THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU WITH THE OIL OF JOY ABOVE YOUR COMPANIONS." [Heb 1:9 NASB20]

2Tim. 3:16,17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
