Ernie has an older brother Leslie who had brain surgery at 16 and has been dependent upon his parents since. Pray for his mother Janet and the rest of the family as they now have to take more responsibility for Leslie's care.

May you experience the comfort of the Holy Spirit, Ernie & family. Just a little while and we shall meet our loved ones again. What a day that will be and what a day it is now for your dad. That blessed hope - to be absent in the body and present with the Lord. Hallelujah !
The church is very small. Attendees other than family and locals would likely not be in the main auditorium during the funeral service but would listen to the service in the basement or nearby school building. Attendees could visit with the family after the burial. The burial will take place on a hill just outside the church.
He isn't discouraging people from coming, but rather warning them in advance how it might be.

A history that looks back to a mythologized past as the country’s perfect time is a key tool of authoritarians. It allows them to characterize anyone who opposes them as an enemy of the country’s great destiny. - Heather Cox Richardson
