Governments did require that theatres couldn’t show obscene material. Larry Flynn took this to the Supreme Court so he could get a “right” to flood communities with pornography.
Exactly.

Which is exactly how things are today. The social media platforms self-regulate and keep porn off of their sites. Try posting porn on Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram and see how far you get.
Movie theaters don't use age verification when they sell tickets nor does someone have to verify their age before streaming a movie. Movie ratings are intended to be a guide. What people are calling for here goes beyond that.

I would be happy to see something that goes beyond that, yes.
I don’t want something poorly designed and half baked. But I would demand perfect either in order to support something.

Porn has been all over Twitter, although as of late they are taking steps to isolate it.

In fact, the only porn I’ve run across in years by accident has been on Twitter. Apparently anything goes there. And no age controls or anything at all or a warning either.

When I was in college, I drove with a friend who was 18 to meet up with her new boyfriend who was still 17. We had a few hours to kill before I needed to get on my way to another place I was going.

We went to the movies (this was in Tennessee), and she and I picked an R rated movie and then he told us there was really no way he’d be able to sneak into that. So we had to pick a PG-13 movie instead.

I guess that is the new Twitter under Elon after he fired all the content moderators. Actions have consequences. It used to not be that way when it was still Twitter.

The unwanted obscene material I ran across was before Musk bought Twitter. They didn’t even have a policy against nudity or pornographic material back then. They are just starting to craft a policy now. To wit:
Twitter is an open platform where users can post a wide range of content, including explicit language, images, and discussions. According to Twitter's policy, graphic content can be shared on the site but can't be featured in “highly visible” areas such as banner images, live videos, or in profile headers.
I’m glad Elon Musk is taking steps to curb the amount of pornography on Twitter.

My experience has been that there has been much less unsolicited porn coming into my feed since Twitter became X.

And Musk still needs to fire a bunch more woke folk. I had an account deleted for posting a bible verse in response to a video of a "trans" influencer who was urging kids to run away from home to join their "glitter family".

See new thread "X deletion". Nevermind. I have a screenshot of the quote, and the judgment handed down by the wonderful content moderators. I get a "board attachment limit reached error", otherwise it would be inline in this post.

The quote was:

Luke 17:2
It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.

It was supposedly an "incitement to violence".

Worldly authorities claim the Bible and prayer are hateful, incitements to violence, misinformation, and anti-science. As their intense wickedness and hatred of Christ, the church, and the Bible grows, expect merely speaking a Bible verse or silently praying to incur even harsher penalties.

Meanwhile, worldly authorities claim we must have unrestricted pornography available to children because of “free speech”.

Nice strawman. There are no worldly authorities who claim those things.
